Somewhere around this time a year ago, i became part of something incredible.
a congregation of individual and independent leaders, who at the same time serve as a collective unit towards a common cause. The chemistry was magic, the harmony - perfect, and in retrospect, i begin to believe that we were always going to win it last year - no questions about it. and now i am a believer: that the best leaders must do so with a heart to serve; that a select group of outstanding individuals with a common focus must -MUST- benefit from each other's difference and thus be not hindered by the "too many cooks spoil the broth" problem; that the best leaders celebrate individuality, but allow not themselves to be susceptible to individualism.
it is not uncommon to see many representatives of a common house fighting to be the best within the house, in a sadly myopic fashion that must jeopardize the family. if you fire inside a house, you are bound to hit some furniture. this makes it extra heartening to see when members sacrifice time, effort, and -above all- emotions for the house. the fight is always outside.
sooner or later, people must realize that what they eventually get is an exponential of what they put in. a senseless abandonment of self, in exchange for emotional catharsis a month later and forever knowing that one was part of something ... worthwhile.
Ours was one of greatness, but somehow i feel that our time has passed. the last thing we could really do for the house was to give it another 5 individuals who could yet maintain the spirit of the house. somehow, i have very good vibes about these young bloods. its truly your show now.
En Garde.
